The workplace required planting that reflected A W Edwards’ environmental leadership while contributing to the project’s Green Star objectives. Rather than applying greenery as decoration, planting was designed as an integrated architectural element within the workplace.

Tropical Plant Rentals collaborated closely with the project team to embed greenery within the joinery and interior design, ensuring the planting enhanced both sustainability outcomes and daily staff experience.

Durable low-light species were selected for their sculptural form and reliability in conditioned interiors. Custom planter boxes were integrated directly into bespoke joinery, with soil volumes carefully calculated to support plant growth and meet Green Star environmental requirements. Multiple site inspections ensured plant sizes, root systems and growth habits aligned precisely with cabinetry dimensions and the built form.

Detailed pre-planning and coordination with joinery trades and project managers ensured seamless installation within the completed workspace. A five-person specialist crew completed installation in just four hours despite an allocated two-day programme, demonstrating the efficiency of the delivery strategy while maintaining protection of all finished surfaces.
