Located above Gadigal Metro Station, this government workplace required a planting solution that balanced confidentiality, operational efficiency and employee wellbeing. The design needed to integrate seamlessly within curved timber joinery and seating elements while maintaining the refined architectural language of the interior. Tropical Plant Rentals developed a tailored biophilic planting strategy that softened the workplace environment while supporting people working within a high-pressure legal setting.
Planting was integrated directly within custom cabinetry and curved timber joinery through purpose-built planter cavities designed to accommodate live plants without compromising the architectural finish. Hardy, low-light species including Zamioculcas, Dracaena, Sansevieria and trailing Pothos were selected for their reliability within conditioned interiors. Natural stone and fibre toppings were used to preserve the refined aesthetic of the joinery while providing a durable planting surface.
Tropical Plant Rentals worked closely with the client team for over twelve months during the design and planning stages to ensure the planting could be successfully integrated within the joinery design. Installation was staged late in the construction program to protect completed finishes and maintain the integrity of the curved timber elements. Access logistics, lift coordination and security protocols were carefully managed within the active CBD building to ensure a controlled and precise installation.
