Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of plant maintenance staff nursery and across commercial client sites – 8ppl.
- Oversee the completion of daily service schedules, ensuring consistency, timeliness, and quality (Operations manager leads this, however Leading hand to be across).
- Perform hands-on horticultural duties including watering, pruning, fertilising, pest control, and plant replacements.
- Mentor, train, and provide on-the-job support to team members, encouraging skill growth and accountability.
- Monitor plant health and proactively resolve environmental or site-specific issues.
- Communicate directly with clients, managing service expectations and addressing any concerns or special requests.
- Complete administrative tasks such as run sheets.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with WHS requirements and company standards.
- Liaise with the Operations Manager on resource planning, stock needs, and scheduling adjustments.
Skills and Experience Required
- Formal qualifications in Horticulture or a related discipline (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in horticulture, landscaping, or indoor plant maintenance.
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong technical knowledge of plant care, pest/disease management, and site/environmental suitability.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- High level of client service and professionalism in communication.
- Strong organisational and time management capabilities. Along with ability to multitask.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks, including ladder work and plant handling.
- Proficient with basic digital tools (email and excel).
- It is a demanding role in a fast moving environment, where every day is different. The ideal candidate would need patience and good problem solving skills.
- Valid Driver’s Licence (MR, Forklift, EWP licences advantageous or willingness to obtain).
- Police clearance or willingness to undergo a background check.
